His name is Khalel. He is now 17. When he was 4, he was diagnosed with PDD-Nos and speech language delay. Autism. She would hear terms like, "I thought he was different we just didn't know what." We didn't hear, " He is brilliant!" "He can be anything he wants to be!"
They have dealt with, "He is not severe enough for services!" Or "We are just not equipped to handle someone with his needs!" Now we have a place that can! The worse part, is Khalel felt the blow more than she did. That is not okay, ever!
Crossing Bridges Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit music, sports and education program for high functioning exceptional children. We not only teach these brilliant stars music and sports, but it is our pleasure to teach them life skills that enhance what is already insdie of themselves through the creative process of discovering success!
Our doors are always open! Summer 2018, we will be expanding ourselves to a full integrated Summer School program. And by Fall 2020 We are hoping to open our doors to a specialized affordable private school for children with high functioning exceptional integrated inclusion school.
Crossing Bridges Foundation is created by a credentialed English teacher of 17+ years, Education Specialist Credential and Multiple Subject teacher. Michele has been an advocate for dreamers and their parents practically since her educational career began. She has taught music and choir to adults and children and wanted to bridge the gap she sees in the school system on a daily basis.
Her passion is children. Her focus is getting children to keep that light alive in their eyes of what is possible. All things are possible! The philosophy Michele teaches her student's, "It is not a matter of 'If' you can, but when you will!" It doesn't matter if they are K thru 24 year olds, her goal is to get them be success and believe they can do anything!
Khalel is her oldest son of seven, and Michele understands the daily struggles of having a child loose confidence in themselves, or now exhibit the executive reasoning skills we take for granted. It is a daily process...but we cannot give up on our children...ever..there is a place for all of them. That is why Crossing Bridges Foundation, Inc. was born.
